The Celebration of 53rd Anniversary of Hotel Indonesia Kempinski
Hotel Indonesia Kempinski
Jakarta will present a selection of authentic Indonesian cuisines from five
different regions of the country over a five-week period at its celebrated
Signatures Restaurant from 5 August to 8 September. The promotion coincides
with the 70th anniversary of independence for Indonesia, as well as the hotel's
53rd birthday.
This Indonesian food promotion
will showcase authentic dishes created with the expertise of the hotel's chefs,
both in-house and brought in for this special celebration. The chefs will guide
diners on a culinary journey through the cuisines of forest, land and sea in an
epic feast.
Celebrated chef and Indonesia's
“culinary ambassador” Petty Elliott will lead the
Sulawesi and Maluku week. And together with famous foodie and blogger Bondan
Winarno – Indonesia's answer to Anthony Bourdain – will judge a special
culinary writing competition for journalists and bloggers held over the course
of the promotion.
“Whilst Indonesia is celebrated for its unparalleled tourism
opportunities and its warm hospitality, we must not forget that the country is
made up of thousands of islands, each with its own unique culture,” said
General Manager Alex Pichel.
“These
islands also carry with them unique and celebrated culinary traditions, often
influenced by the spices and other ingredients only found on those islands.
This means each island has a very distinctive cuisine, and it is this that we
are celebrating,” he added.
The
promotion will run from 5 August with the schedule below for weekend brunches
and weekday lunches (12:00 noon to 3:00pm) and dinners (from 6:00pm to
10:00pm).
- Sumatra: 5 – 11 August
- Java: 12 – 18 August
- Bali-Lombok: 19 – 25 August
- Kalimantan: 26 August –1
September
- Sulawesi–Maluku: 2 – 8
